What better way to do this than to explore the world with your friends, go on your first solo trip or even just a weekend getaway to do some soul searching? If you are someone who doesn’t think that a Grad trip is all that it's hyped up to be or you need more reasons to convince your parents, read on and I will give you 4 of the simplest reasons why you should not miss out on this “Legendary” trip that most graduates rave about.

1) Strengthen Friendships

If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day so that I never have to live without you.
— Winnie the Pooh

The friends that you make in your years schooling will be there as you grow old but sometimes when life gets so busy you forget how important these people really are in our lives. Travelling together with your friends can be rewarding and helps to strengthen your bond even further. You will feel a connection so strong with each other in a place of strangers that you fully realise how much you really need each other. You will have to fully trust one another to bring each other home safely.

After graduation, every individual will eventually find a path of their own. Some will start to have their own family and some may choose to migrate. All this would make finding time to travel together so much more difficult as opposed to the present situation where your circle of friends are at the same crossroads as you are. Friends who can stand by you in a strange place will always be there with you through the thick and thin.

2) Meet New People and Build your Confidence

Meeting new people always gives you a sense of excitement and anxiousness but as you travel you open your eyes to a world of friendly people from vastly different backgrounds and cultures that somehow can come together and connect. Sounds a little intimidating I know, but let me tell you exactly why this is beneficial for you. As you continue meeting new people, you will learn how to adapt to different cultures and this bring you out of your comfort zone. It is almost like every new friend made is equivalent to an increase in point on the confidence meter. This will also give you the courage to go on spontaneous outings. You would also start to appreciate the mystery that goes along with meeting new people and this makes life ten times more interesting.

Confidence and being able to connect with people on the most basic level is a skill that the adult world is looking for in a potential employee. Yes people, hard skills are not enough to get you through the working world. If your goal is to climb your way up to the top, you are going to need these soft skills too. So take your trip before you step out into the world and it will make a world of difference to your future.

3) Soul-Searching

It is easy to dismiss the thought of a graduation trip when you convince yourself that you can take a trip at a later date when you have worked and saved enough money or that you would much rather use the time to secure a well-paying job. If you have these reasons in mind then let me be the first to tell you that a graduation trips experience is more valuable than time or money spent on it. Everyone goes through a transition period from the moment they graduate till the day they step foot into the adult world and believe it or not, how you choose to use this period will further shape you as a person or may help change your perspectives on life. You have been on the fast track since the day you started schooling and now that that phase is coming to a close, you are finally given time to reflect on yourself.

Traveling is one of the most refreshing ways to find yourself, whether you do it solo or with a friend. You are away from the pressures of your hometown, your head is clear and all your inhibitions are set free. This alone sets the stage for you to do some serious soul searching to be r of the person that you are and figure out how you want to live your life without outside voices telling you what to do. You don’t want to step out into the world and be swept away by the hectic lifestyle and forget yourself along the way now do you?

4) Carpe Diem; Seize the Day

Yes honey, I said it. Carpe Diem. Seize the day, take a leap of faith or however you want to put it, the message is still the same. Use every opportunity that life has to offer you.  What other reason could you possibly need? Live in the now and live life to the fullest. I could also be completely cliché and just say YOLO (You Only Live Once) and I still would stand by my word.

Don’t let opportunities slip through your fingers. If someone wants to whisk you away on a surprise trip where the destination is a total mystery to you, just do it. Take the time after you graduate to explore what you really want to do. You are young and have so much energy so do something spontaneous and completely out of the blue. Go snow surfing in the Bavarian Alps of Germany, take a helicopter ride in Brisbane or work on your tan in Bali. There are destinations such as the Maldives that are slowly disappearing and they wait for no man which perfectly depicts why you should seize this opportunity instead of waiting for a time that may or may not come. Whatever you decide to do remember that life is unpredictable and that anything could happen within the next few years or even the next minute.

I think these simple reasons alone can help you make a decision on whether or not to take this grad trip before you start job hunting. So, what are you waiting for? Get up and make a move because everything you do in this life is for yourself. If you still don’t know where to go, why not take a little leap of faith and learn more about the thrills of Surprise Travel. Lock in your dates, state your preferences, and discover your destination only at the airport. Definitely legendary and Grad Trip-worthy!
